Stargate: Global Defense By: C Pfeifer Chapter three: Annoyance Cleopatra frowned as she walked around. The Global Defense housings kept teams mostly in the same location. They lived in a refurbished wear house with four other teams, like collage dorms, only with different rules. The wear house was three levels high with living quarters on the upper two levels and the kitchen and dinning area on the first levels. The Military personal had watch shifts, each team has two members or more of the military in each one. Heather and Lt Head went on watch shifts where they spend three hours checking everything on their floor and the security camera, before giving the shift over to the next team. They had rules such as lights out by 10 pm unless you are locked in the lab and unable to get out unless escorted by a member of your team or a logged in military member of the building. Though the idea of personal showers, was the second thing out the window Cleopatra learned, seemed thrown out the window. As for each team they had one shower-room, which had a bath tub which was big enough for six people. She was very uncomfortable with the idea of sharing a tub with every other member of ether team in it at the same time. Heather and Demerits seemed perfectly at ease with the situation. But Cleopatra knew Calvin was going to be at lest entertaining, when he found out. He seemed to be a very privet man. They had there own bed and dresser, but like many military issue items their rooms were gender based, the guys in one room with a set of beds and Heather and Cleopatra in another, which was fine, even though the room for the guys was bigger. Each rom had three beds and two foot lockers and one wardrobe with built in dresser. Calvin claimed the wordrob, whiel Head took a foot locker, haveing only his dress uniform to hang up, which Clavin had no problem with. They were officially a team and had two weeks to get things together. Their rooms had the two bed rooms, a group sitting room and a small library seemingly directed at the more thinking members of the team. Since it was stocked with books on Psychology, Chemistry and copied off manuals for certain Ancient and Gould devices that the SGC had figured out. Calvin however, seemed despite being in a team, he was a loner. However, Heather knew that sooner or later Demerits would wear the other man down. It was half the reason why she picked him as her second in command. The man was driven with more then just duty to finish the mission. Cleopatra walked into the living area of there quarters to find Calvin reading up through one of the copied off manual’s. It was mostly on the healing device from the Gould. Figuring the man was a perfectionist awayness she sat at the other end and smiled. She loved making others freak out. So being extra quite she sat down slowly. And waited until Calvin was ready to turn the page. Taking a slow breath in she shouted, “HELLO CALVIN!” Calvin having not really payed any attention to who was in the room lost grip of the manual and turned in shock to Cleopatra. Glaring at her once the shock wor off a few moments later, “What do you want Cleo? Why can’t you announce yourself like Demerits and Heather. . .gezz you nearly gave me a heart attack!” Calvin whined. Cleopatra looked not one ounce as if she was sorry, but grinned like the cat who had the bird out of the cage and in its mouth. “You seen the showers?” Calvin frowned, the bathrooms reminded him to much that in the wear hours there was next to no privacy and due to the sensitivity of ether jobs he could understand to a point why. But he didn’t need a shower yet. “Why?” Calvin probed. Cleopatra smirked and ran, Calvin hot on her heals, even if his stride did not show one used to running a lot. They arrived at their team bathroom, just as the cleaning crew came out, it was a punishment to clean ALL four of the team bathrooms, if getting caught braking any of the rules. Fighting that much soap scum was a nightmare when you had to use a tooth brush. Calvin starred in shock, “Where are the stalls? Do we have no privacy at all?” Calvin grout out. Cleopatra snickered, “What afraid you got something we would laugh at pretty boy?” Came a gruff and annoyed voice. Turning the two blushed as Heather walked in fallowed by Demerits . Neither of who looked to happy at the issue Calvin and Cleopatra were making. Calvin however, shocked Cleopatra with a grin, “What its not like this is the first time I have had this happen. My Dorm in collage had a set up similar to this. Fifteen guys just cleaning up, no biggie. It’s just I never had a place like this that was co-ed.” Heather smirked walking forward, “Well get used to it, guys. We have our first mission tomorrow. We head out to Canada. Word has it from our northern brethren that we have a snake on the run. Several bodies were found near Whistler. So we leave at first light to the air port. We have privet accommodations. We will receive more information as we go. But let just try and get alone shall we.” Calvin looked over at Cleopatra who was blushing, he grinned wickedly as an idea popped into his head. She made sure to have him know ahead of time that their bathing area was co ed. Perhaps she is embarrassed at the possibility of seeing him and Demerits in the nude. “Oh I look forward to braking this place in. Who know’s we might just have some fun while where at it.” Cleopatra thought of it and blushed running from the room screaming “EEEWWWWWWW NAKED GUYS YUK!” Calvin grinned, “Guess that clears up that question.” Demerits frowned, and walked closer until his head was near Calvin’s ear, “What question would that be?” Calvin grinned, “Cleo came into the reck room and bugged me, about not seeing the showers. She brought me here. No doubt to watch me ferk out. But then again, it made me wonder. If she thinks naked men are how did she put it . . . . oh yea Ewwww. They she has to prefer women. Heck it makes no difference to me, collage was a wonderful time for me. I was really good at experimenting the bounds of sexual limitation. I had girlfriends and boy friends, hey I had one of each at one time for a whole two semesters.” Demerits frowned, “Your gay and so is Cleo? No wonder she did not feel comfertable around me. She must think I was trying to hit on her!” the man’s face melted into a mass of worry. Looking to Heather he seemed to ask her without words. She nodded and ushered him away. The darkly colored man ran out like a bat out of hell towards the master library. “Well on paper everyone seemed to be different!” Heather grumbled. Calvin on the other hand was to amused to care, walking back to the reck room he picked up the manual again and went back to reading. TBC. . . Tags: kavanagh, stargate Current Mood: creative

Stargate: Global Defense By: C Pfeifer Chapter two: Acceptance The room was what looked like half lab and half gym. While one tall and darkly colored man worked out on the gym equipment, one slender woman who stood no taller then five feet seven inches tall, sat in the lab designated area. She was reading a book that had to be eight inches thick with a fascination that seemed almost disturbing. She had very olive colored skin and shoulder length needle strait brown hair with red streaks. The two did not speak to each other and seemed to not even notice the other was there until the double doors opened and in walked Major Heather Evil, fallowed by Dr Calvin Kavanagh. The two looked up and frowned, seeing Heather was not alone. They welcomed the sight of the woman, but the darker of them came to full attention. Walking to him Heather shot out, “At ease!” the man relaxed visibly and took full note of Dr Kavanagh. The darkly colored man starred at Kavanagh for a full five minutes before shrugging and returning to his work out reagent. Calvin was going to have to watch that one for a while, he had an odd feeling about the big black man. “Cleo . . . Cleo?” Heather’s voice came, fallowed by a thud, which caught even Calvin’s attention, “CLEO!” Heather shouted, which seemed louder then the other woman’s thoughts, the woman removed tiny ear phones and snarled out, “What?” Heather motioned to Calvin and walked towards them. Calvin noted the book was labeled, ‘Encyclopedia of Psychological problems a councilor’s guide’. Calvin did not know the woman’s full name, but that book alone made him wonder about the second woman’s mental stability. Heather although being the one in charge of this rag tag group of people seemed very striate forward about how she wanted things done, “Cleo, this is Dr Calvin Kavanagh, the one I was telling you about. Calvin this is Dr Cleopatra Bloodworth, she is our human behavior analyst, and she also is very adapt at translating Gould. Though she is not that competent with Ancient like your file states. But I think between the two of you, we can translate anything that comes our way if its Gould or Ancient. I just hope that with the four of us we will at lest work together. I know Alpha three is current going through re-assignment. I received control of Alpha 6 only a few weeks ago. We are to be a compliment of at lest four.” It was at that point that Calvin was glade he was one of the few who hung around the Linguists on Atlantis, he picked up a lot of the Ancient’s language from listening to them. Well that and he was quite enough they forgot he was there and talked about girly things like guys, not that they needed to know he agreed with many of there statements on the ‘who’s hot and who’s not’ roster of the ranking military members of the expatiation. However, Cleopatra seemed to be more interested in how he was standing then to saying hello. Which she did a good ten minuets later after the most awkward of silence between the two of them. She stood and walked to him without any preamble, “Hello there Dr Kavanagh.” She said sticking her hand out, her voice sounded distantly of a souther twang. Calvin grasped her hand and was shocked at how strong the tiny woman truly was. Grinning he did not hold back his one strength. That brought a grin from Cleopatra. “So tell me what’s a Human Behavior Analyst do anyways?” Calvin asked as Heather moved to the other man in the room who was working on a strange contraption which seemed made for sit-ups. Cleopatra grinned, “When a person dose anything, there are markers that tell me what they are like. The way you stand for instance, your not sure about being here. Your afraid that this is another mistake and you want to be careful. Perhaps it is something to due with what happened in Atlantis. I have been reading over the reports from Atlantis. They labeled you as quite a snitch. But I think you are one to not want to move out of the realm of safety for everyone. Me personally, I can tell when a person is lying, their face gives it away ever time, body language is always the easiest to read once one knows what to look for.” Calvin rased an eyebrow with confusion, “So you can tell a lot about people just by watching them?” Cleopatra smiled and nodded quickly. Calvin frowned, well this team was already shaping up to be odd and that’s from the get go. But what struck him as odd was from what he could tell the teams were in tandems of five, who was the fifth member for them? Even if Major Evil had said their team was a membership of four, he knew sooner or later like SG 1 and Shepherds team they would acquire a fifth member who was more alien then human. “Ok I get your Cleo, and she is Heather, my only confusion is who is that?” Calvin asked pointing to the only other man in their group thus far. Cleo frowned, “That’s Lt Demerits Head, he is Heather’s second in command. Good guy is your if ok with the touch feely kind. I thought the Military bread that out of one with Boot camp. I swear since I got here two weeks ago he has been trying to out think me into group stuff. Before that I was in having a ball at the In statue of Physic research, I was an instructors aid with the analysis of human behaviors. Its part of the research that helps us to determine is someone can authentically read a persons emotions or if they are just reading body language. You won’t believe how many false claims I have de-mystified with my research.” Calvin frowned as she went quite, “I can tell a lot about people, the head of the Atlantis Expedition is more lead by her emotions, then Logic trust me on that one. Every time I try and state an idea for the protecting of Atlantis they think I am only protecting myself.” Cleopatra smiled, “Oh I think were going to get along just fine. Now if only we can get Lt let’s sing Ko’by’ya over there to chill out!” Calvin had to agree thus far it’s a nice start. But Major Heather Evil watched her team like a mother lioness, waiting for her cubs to start getting rough with one another. NO doubt ready to pounce. She held in her hands a small screen labeling out a order issued to check out a medical research facility in Nebraska. Kavanagh and Bloodworth were getting along nicely, now if the Lt would say two words to the new man, she would know how the dynamic would work. Major Heather Evil was not a dark-side type of person. But liked it when things worked out just as she imagined them. TBC . . . Tags: kavanagh, stargate Current Mood: content

Stargate: Global Defense By: C Pfeifer Chapter one: Assembly Dr Calvin Kavanagh was a little heart broken as he was beamed down from the Daedalus. Atlantis has been a esperance in and of itself. There was so much to learn, but to his dismay no one seemed to see his playing it safe as anything but him watching his own rear. After Weir was up front about seeing him as an agent for the Trust of all things, he knew he did not ever want to go back. The trip back had been a sobering and quite one. He spent most of the time he had on the Daedalus in his room going over the little research he had managed to compile while one his two tours of Atlantis. He was not a genius like Dr MaKay, however, that did not limit his ablty to learn and rationalize. His research would not doubt be looked down at unless someone really wanted to look at it. He had kept every report he ever filed and when he needed reference points he pulled them up. No one noticed when he disappeared for days on end for the trip, but seeing the SGC again was a somber event. Back to the concert walls and soldiers without much of anything else, Calvin figured it was out to Area 51 for him. Gathering his few things he walked towards the elevator, all he wanted was to go home and crash. Sleep in the tranquil setting of his house. Just as he was about to adjust the phile of equipment he had to his other side he ran into what felt like a stone wall. However, this stone wall had a voice, “Watch where your going!” the voice was distinctly female and yet booming at the same time. The equipment was picked up fast and within moments Calvin found himself staring into deep green eyes. The face attached to it reminded him somewhat of Cher, but the tone of voice was too far off to compare. “Get up, we can’t be making a spectacle of ourselves.” She stated and lurked Calvin up as if he weighed next to nothing at all. Shocked, Calvin hardly noticed as the equipment was restocked on his arms, a bit more size soundly. Moving into the elevator the woman hit the first floor. “Who are you?” Calvin asked a bit exasperated, she snorted and answered, “Major Heather Evil, and you make any wise cracks about my last name; you’ll be singing soprano for the rest of your life.” Calvin felt a blush creep up into his face, “Yes Mam.” Calvin said softly trying his best to keep a good distance from that particular woman, “Who the heck, are you, I have been her ten weeks and have not seen you at all.” Heather barked out with a glare. Calvin frowned and shot back, “Dr. Calvin Kavanagh. I have been in Atlantis for a tour, just got back an hour ago with the Daedalus.” Heather looked him up and down with scrutiny, “Atlantis you say. I hear only the best go, why are you back?” her tone moved to soft and kind. Calvin looked to the control panel avoiding her eyes, “Working conditions became to much. My work was not appreciated, and I had no respect out there. Needles to say the last time I was there I was nearly tortured. I have no intention of returning to Atlantis.” Heather frowned, the man before her was whinny, but a part of her wanted to know more about him. She got her wish as after a few moments the elevator came to a jarring stop and alarms went off, “Dam-it this is the second time in months!” Heather swore out. Calvin for the most part remained silent, “Well I can’t say it’s a shock at this point,” Heather stated and looked to Calvin with a glare, “Please tell me your not one of those weird people afraid of small spaces!” She barked out to him. Calvin looked shocked, “Nope, I’m good, no cloisterphobia here. But if were stuck here and its going to be a while I am not holding this stuff the whole time. What do you mean the second time in two months? What the base being sieged?” Heather rolled her eyes, “Something like that, but at this point all I can tell you is where going to be here for a while.” she growled out, not happy at all about the situation. Calvin carefully set down his equipment and sat down on the ground, “So what team are you apart of, you said you had been here ten weeks and all.” Calvin stated trying to make small talk. Heather smirked, “I have been here going through personal reports, trying to get my team assemble. The President has ordered ten teams assembled to filter out the alien presents already on earth. Also to stop the Trust, we learned they are quite cunning if they got an operative to Atlantis like they did. I figure with the other teams being such as they are, mine needs an edge. We might run into technology that is Ancient or worse Gould. So I was going through the Scientists records and degrees. Needless to say that I have spent ten very boring weeks going through and interviewing potenchel team members. No one has been up to snuff.” Calvin Kavanagh shook his head, “So they are finally seeing the threat is not only out in space, good for them. Maybe now we can weed them out and get some real work done. ****Six and a half hours later!*** Calvin was feeling rather relaxed, despite ranting about Weir and the Atlantis commanding staff Heather had said next to nothing. She nodded and save short maximum of five word replies but mainly let him rant without giving away anything with her face. He could only figure she saw his need to vent and was willing to be an ear that listened even if it was only half heartedly. He had learned that unlike Col Shepherd and General O’Neill, Major Evil was in the Army, not the Air force or the Marine’s. She was a fully trained Green Bray as well to, which was a comfort to him. “I wonder, with your esperance, how hard would it be to work with the technology that is around this place or Area 51?” Heather asked softly, her whole hardened exterior having melted away during the hours of conversation. Calvin thought about it for a moment, it really was not that hard for someone who knew what they were looking for and had a strong grasp of how the technology worked in the first pace. He had helped to figure out how many of the devices worked, helped withe th Puddle Jumpers as well. He was confidant in his knowledge about Ancient’s and Gould technology. “I could work my way around it, Ancient’s Technology is notoriously complicated at times, but Gould technology is often more a mental component then a technical one. Sure I could work with it and around it. But its not my main field, I am a Chemist mostly.” Major Evil smirked, oh this would be good. TBC . . . Tags: humer, kavanagh, stargate Current Mood: giddy
